Below some of the stocks I am considering for purchase this month. A few of these goes ex-dividend in the coming days and since they are already trading at valuations that I consider reasonable I may purchase a stock or two as early as tomorrow.
There is only one on the list that I do not currently own, that is CVS.
On another note, there are a few M&A deals (or are rumored) regarding some stocks that I currently own. Broadcom (AVGO) has offered to purchase Qualcomm (QCOM), which I own, for north of $70/sh. My guess is that this offer will have to climb by +10% to be given consideration by QCOM's board and of course the proposed merger itself will face heavy regulatory scrutiny - I am not optimistic this acquisition will materialize. Also, Disney (DIS) is rumored to be interested in purchasing 21st Century Fox (FOXA), I own both companies. The market apparently likes the thought of this happening as both stocks closed higher on the news. If FOXA is open to being purchased, I believe Verizon (VZ) would be a better candidate, but haven't heard if VZ is even interested. As a consumer, I would not favor an acquisition of FOXA by DIS, one big reason being that both compete for the same sporting event contracts and this would increase the negotiating power of DIS to win contracts over much smaller rivals that would remain (CBS sports, NBC Sports, etc.) I would imagine this deal would also face heavy regulatory scrutiny.
